Buenos Aires Weather and Buenos Aires Time

The weather in Buenos Aires, like anywhere else, can never be predicted as an exact science. My research described here reflects average seasonal variations collected over many years - so please do not shoot the messenger! If the extreme variations in weather witnessed worldwide are anything to go by, my advice is to ignore historical data, forget my Buenos Aires weather forecast and get to BAires as soon as you are fortunate enough to find the time.
Buenos Aires has a temperate climate that is characteristic of the Río de la Plata's coastal plain. The city is hot and humid during the summer months of December to February, with a mean high temperature of 83°F (28°C). The autumn and spring are characterised by fluctuating temperatures and uncertain, changeable weather. However, I love the both the spring and autumn because you get clear blue skies and fantastic, warm and sunny days without stifling humidity - these times of year are well worth the odd off-day and there is a lot do in Buenos Aires even when the weather is poor.
The winter months of June to August are mild but humid, with a mean temperature of 52°F (11°C). The average annual temperature is slightly higher at 60° F (16° C). Frosts can occur from May to September, but snowfall is extremely rare - although 2007 saw significant snowfall in Buenos Aires province. Winds are generally of low velocity and are more frequent between September and March when the gods send the occasional and spectacular electrical storm. Rainfall is heaviest during March.
The time in Buenos Aires is Greenwich Mean Time minus three hours or GMT -3.
What does that mean?
The Greenwich Meridian (Prime Meridian or Longitude Zero degrees) marks the starting point of every time zone in the World. GMT is Greenwich Mean (or Meridian) Time is the mean (average) time that the earth takes to rotate from noon-to-noon.
GMT is World Time and the basis of every world time zone which sets the time of day and is at the center of the time zone map. GMT sets current time or official time around the globe. Most time changes are measured by GMT. Although GMT has been replaced by atomic time (UTC) it is still widely regarded as the correct time for every international time zone.
