Bariloche stands 1,640 kilometers away from the City of Buenos Aires and it offers first-class accommodation, wonderful seasonal sports facilities and excellent gastronomical services.
In the summer, trout and salmon fly-fishing and sports recreation (especially hiking, river rafting and walks around ancient forests, as well as climbing most of the peaks surrounding the city) are just some of the activities enjoyed by visitors to this great city.
During the winter, the first snowfalls announce the beginning of the ski season and winter sports on mythical Mount Catedral, considered one of the most important ski resorts in the country.
It is almost compulsory that your first excursion in Bariloche be the famous Circuito Chico, to take in the breathtaking scenery and beauty of this imposing mountain range and fall in love with this truly remarkable highland city. The tour begins downtown on Ezequiel Bustillo Avenue, which borders Lake Nahuel Huapi; you will follow its winding beaches. This beautiful water is the largest lake in the region at 55,700 hectares it is a beautiful backdrop and main feature of your Bariloche tour. The first stretch of the waterway provides urban architecture, including the houses of pioneers, the Nautical Club and the Melipal neighborhood. When you leave behind civilization, the Nahuel Huapi begins to change and tall cypresses, maitenes, coihues and ñires, amongst the other forestry, shade you. In summer, this road acquires shocking red and yellow colors from the rose hip bushes, blackberry and raspberry grow in abundance and the gorse blooms all around.
Cerro Catedral/ Mount Cathedral: The name Catedral suggests its majestic resemblance to the towers of a Gothic cathedral. During the winter, ski is practiced both at a national and international level, competitions for professionals and amateurs are held, and other snow-related sports take place at the Antonio M. Lynch winter sports center. The excursion leaves along Av. Bustillo towards Llao Llao. After passing by the Playa Bonita harbor we move on to Virgen de las Nieves, passing the salmon breeding center to finally reach villa Catedral, at the foot of the mount bearing the same name.
Arrayanes Forest: The starting points for this excursion are Bariloche and Puerto Pañuelo. It is a forest formation unique in the world with centenary specimens. The crust of the trees are cold, smooth and of cinnamon color. There are white flowers and purple fruits of a pleasant taste. A small house built in the middle of the forest and the deer living in the area, (Called Pudú-Pudú) small in size, were the inspiring muse of the famous Walt Disney for his cartoon "Bambi". Later you can embark to Puerto Anchorena in Victoria Island, where you can walk on different paths and visit a coniferous nursery. There is an option to use the chair lift to Cerro Bella Vista to obtain a panoramic view of the island and majestic Lake.
