Palermo Viejo (old Palermo) is home to trendsetting bars and clubs, great restaurants and the best shopping in Buenos Aires. A railway track dissects this neighborhood to create Palermo Hollywood to the north and Palermo Soho to the south. Palermo Viejo’s boutiques, rooftop restaurants and lavish homes represent Nuevo-Chic- Buenos Aires glistening with fashion and style.
From Palermo Viejo, visitors can easily connect to the tourist points of the city. Bus route 152 provides quick transportation to Recoleta in 10 minutes and El Centro (downtown) in 25 minutes. The D Line subte (subway) runs through Palermo Viejo and its stations are Palermo, Plaza Italia and Scalabrini Ortiz. The stations are five blocks apart and less than 3 minutes apart when traveling via subte. Scalabrini Ortiz is the closest stop to El Centro, and the journey takes less than 15 minutes. These times are estimates and depend on traffic on the roads and time. A quick tip, plan breakfast and your afternoon coffee break at peak transport times as it stinks to be in the midst of rush hour traffic!
Famous Argentine heroes Jorge Luis Borges and Che Guevara took up residence in Palermo Viejo when it was still a sleepy residential barrio. Along with these great legends lived immigrant communities of Ukrainian, Polish, Armenian and Lebanese descent. Their cultures still live on in the daily street life, religious centers, and fabulous international restaurants.
Palermo Hollywood is a great residential neighborhood and is famed for its TV and radio production. There are many quiet residential streets and many of our clients who prefer quality dwellings, peace and quiet right next door to party town, Palermo Soho, choose this area.
Palermo Soho is a fantastic neighborhood of smashing low-rise buildings that extend from the leafy cobble stoned Plaza Serrano, also known as Plaza Cortázar to Avendia Santa Fe. These expensively renovated buildings are home to the trendiest bars, restaurants, art galleries, design studios and the trendy young crowds who frequent them. This neighborhood is alive with Buenos Aires’ most vibrant nightlife and some of the best pubs, clubs and gay bars.
